The Healing Field of Murfreesboro returns this weekend
MEDIA RELEASE FROM MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Healing Field of Murfreesboro, an annual Memorial Day tradition, returns this weekend, sponsored this year by the new Freedom Trail Foundation.
MTSU’s Charlie and Hazel Daniels Center and Army ROTC Color Guard joined several youth organizations, including troops from the Middle Tennessee Council of Scouting America, to install American flags in front of Murfreesboro’s First United Methodist Church. Each flag honors a veteran.
The field opened Saturday morning at a ceremony featuring retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Huber from MTSU and retired Army Maj. Gen. William Hickman.
Visits to the field, which is located at 265 West Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro are free and open to the public through the holiday weekend, with closing ceremonies set for 5 p.m. Monday.
