Jackson Rockabillys kick off opening night

JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s the start of the Rockabillys’ game season and fans are lining up for a full week of fun at the ballpark.

It’s the beginning of home runs and unforgettable victories as the Jackson Rockabillys kick the season off against the Alton River Dragons.

After the first pitch is thrown at 7 p.m., players put fuel to the fire on the field. This is the 3rd opening night since the Rockabillys’ first ballgame here in the Hub City.

“Tomorrow night is Replica Jersey Night out here. Thursday night is not only Throw Back Thursday, it’s also Bass Pro Shop Cap night. Friday night is Vector Security Fireworks night. Every Friday is fireworks night out here,” said Dennis Bastien, president and manager of the Jackson Rockabillys.

The Jackson Rockabillys prepare from the end of August all the way to opening night between promotions, giveaway nights, season tickets and program advertising leading up to the big game day.

“We done a major overhaul again. We’ve used 1,100 gallons of paint, we’ve gutted the concession stands, the juke box is our merchandise room, the suites are redone, the clubhouse is redone, we’ve got the giant new video board, and we’ll do movie nights. This is the activity center. This is the place to be from about early march to the end of October,” said Bastien.

The Rockabillys stadium is used for a wide variety of charity contributions, high school and college tournaments, car shows and fundraisers. Their dedication to community engagement is how they’re making a difference.

“We made the commitment to get involved with the community and this region. Our Rockabillys Reader Program impacted over 30 grade schools in this county and surrounding perimeter countries. So, that’s been a big big thing for us,” said Bastien.

The Rockabillys have three scheduled concerts this year. Starting with the Yung Gravy concert on July 26, a night under the lights with Crowder on September 12, and a tentative date for the Beach Boys to visit this year.
