Lexington leaders gather to discuss FY 2025-26 budget
LEXINGTON, Tenn. — Earlier Tuesday evening, leaders met at city hall in Lexington to discuss their fiscal year 2025-26 budget.
During the meeting, they approved multiple items on the agenda. But the big topic was the first reading of an ordinance to adopt the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget. They approved adjusting general fund employee salaries to the minimum to align with other departments.
The board of alderman worked with various departments to help curtail aging equipment. There were also talks to help put more money into the rainy day fund.
As of this reading, the budget is balanced. It should be noted all of this is subject to change in the second reading.
They will meet again in June for that second reading.
