A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday for an addition to the Humboldt Public Library.
This project has been in the works for approximately 10 years with a budget of more than $800,000.
The library was also awarded a $200,000 construction grant.
“We get two things with this,” said John A. Blankenship, the library’s director. “With this new addition and the modern space, we also open up the current children’s library for a community room and a large conference area that will seat up to 75 folks, so that’s going to be helpful not only for the library activities and programs, but it will be available for this community today to use.”
The new children’s library will begin construction in June and it’s currently scheduled to open in January.
