UPDATE (5/30/25): THP releases preliminary report on fatal Greyhound bus crash


Update: Fatal Crash Involving Greyhound Bus in Madison County

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash that occurred on May 26, 2025, on U.S. Highway 70 in Madison County involving a Greyhound bus and a passenger vehicle.

Both victims were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for forensic examination and positive identification. One of the deceased was a passenger on the bus.

There were 39 occupants on board the Greyhound bus at the time of the crash. Thirty-three sought medical evaluation, with many doing so out of an abundance of caution. Six additional passengers declined medical treatment on scene.

The THP Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and the Motor Carrier Safety Division have completed their preliminary investigation. CIRT has documented the scene, and the Motor Carrier team has examined the mechanical systems of the bus. The next phase of the investigation will focus on compiling all facts, which includes witness interviews and detailed analysis of the evidence. This process takes time to ensure a thorough and accurate report.
