A low pressure system will track through West Tennessee on Thursday and will usher in some storms Thursday evening into early Friday morning. As of now we are under a marginal risk (1/5) for severe storms but an update to a slight risk (2/5) seems possible at this time. The severity of the storms will mostly depend on the timing for us. If the storms show up before the sun goes down our chances for severe weather seem high. The later they show up the better for us to avoid severe storms. We still could be a few strong wind storms after the sun goes down and the storms and showers will linger into Friday morning in West TN! All severe weather modes seem to be in play at this time. THIS WEEK:

Wednesday was a bit warmer with highs reaching the upper 70s to near 80°. There were some leftover clouds that took their time moving out but were a few brief some periods of sunshine as well towards the back half of the day. The winds on Wednesday were light and came out of the northwest on the back side of the low pressure system that brought us our rain on Tuesday. Skies will remain mostly cloudy Wednesday night into Thursday morning and that will allow overnight temperatures to only fall down to the low 60s to kick off our Thursday. Rain is not expected tonight but will be coming back into the day on Thursday.

Thursday is going to start out nice with some sunshine and dry weather but a system will approach later in the day and could bring some rain showers or weak storms with it. There could be a few strong storms or severe weather late Thursday night and chances for rain are 70% as of now. A marginal risk (1/5) for severe storms is out for all of West Tennessee with the stronger storms expected to be in the evening and in our western counties. Clouds will increase as the day goes on and the winds on Thursday will come out of the southwest. Thursday night lows will again fall down to around 60°. Some of the rain showers and storms could continue into the first half of the morning on Friday.

Some rain is possible early Friday but will move out quickly as the day gets going. Friday will start out mostly cloudy but there could be some late clearing and the skies will clear out Friday night into the upcoming weekend. The winds on Friday are expected to come out of the north and that will keep the temperatures down a bit. Highs on Friday will reach the mid to upper 70s depending on when the clouds move out. Friday night lows will fall down to the upper 50s but a nice weekend looks to be on the way.

THIS WEEKEND:

It isn’t a guarantee yet but we could be looking at our first dry weekend in a while. Most of the forecast guidance is hinting at a dry weekend as of now but a few scenarios bring a few showers back late into the weekend. We will keep an eye on the forecast as the weekend progresses because we really could use a mostly sunny, nice and dry weekend for us here in West Tennessee. If there are a few showers or storms, Sunday seems more likely than Saturday for them to show up as of now.

Highs on Saturday and Sunday should crack the 80° mark but how far into the 80s will determine how much sunshine we get to peek through over the weekend. Morning lows will hang around 60° both morning and we are NOT expecting a humid weekend as of now. The winds are forecast to come out of the northwest on Saturday but turn to the west or southwest as the weekend goes on. The sooner they turn to the southwest, the warmer it will be this weekend. The pleasant weather looks to stick around into the start of next week with highs finally climbing back above normal by next Monday!
