City of Jackson’s pools prepare to open for the summer

JACKSON, Tenn. — There’s always time to soak up some water when the weather is just right.

Starting June 1, public pools with the City of Jackson are set to open at the Westwood Community Center and the T.R. White Sportsplex here in the Hub City.

Employees and lifeguards are making final touches on making sure both pools are clean and safe use for the community.

“It is open to everyone in the community the only thing we ask is that if you are 18 years of age or under that you be accompanied by an adult preferably,” said Whitney Billingsley, community engagement director.

“The pool is getting prepared at both locations. Westwood and T.R. White, the hours are the same Monday-Saturday from 1-4 p.m. It’s $2 to swim at both locations. T.R. White will be hosting a swimming water clinic that is in collaboration with an organization who wants to help our community learn to swim safety,” said Billingsley.

Jackson Parks and Rec have full list of summer engagements this year to keep the community involved.

Their mission is to be an accountable steward of public recreation facilities, recreation resources and an efficient provider of quality, wholesome leisure services to benefit the well-being of all citizens.

“We have movies in the park, we have summer tennis clinic, we have the fam jam which is going to be a dance for families like a snicker ball, and we also have Hub City dance night which will be downtown. Look forward to all the great thing parks and rec have going on this summer,” said Billingsley.

Other parks and rec activities approaching include their youth summer tennis clinic June 3 to July 26 at the Westwood Recreation Center for beginner ages 4 to 15.

All classes will be limited for the number of students.
