WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Wednesday is going to be another nice day but changes are around the corner. Storm chances will return to West Tennessee on Thursday. Most of the storms on Thursday will be in our western counties but everyone will pick up a shot in the afternoon and evening hours. Some stronger and possibly a few severe storms are forecast to move through on Friday. There could be a couple rounds of storms on Friday. Gusty winds will be the main threat but some hail or a tornado cannot be ruled out. Catch the latest forecast information right here.

THIS WEEK:

The streak of fantastic weather continued on our Tuesday as we saw another round of sunshine on Tuesday with highs again reaching the upper 80s to near 90° in the afternoon. The winds were a bit breezy a times and came out of the south. We are not expecting any rain this evening or tonight, but it was a bit hazy with that wildfire smoke from Canada lingering around today. Tuesday night will be mostly clear with night time lows only falling down to around 70°. The reason Tuesday night will be warmer than Monday night is because the dew point will be a bit higher as the humidity will be on the rise late tonight into Wednesday.

Wednesday is going to be a warm and humid day with highs reaching the upper 80s once again. The winds are expected to come out of the south and it will be a bit breezy at times but not bad at all. Although a few showers or a weak pop up storm or two cannot be ruled out, most of West Tennessee will stay dry on Wednesday. Expect a partly cloudy day with clouds increasing Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Wednesday night lows will drop down into the low 70s.

Rain chances get going for most of us this week on Thursday. As of now, chances for rain are 30% but that number is more likely to go up instead of down at this time. A cold front will approach the Mid South and will stall out for a few days. Depending on where the front stalls will determine who is most likely to see heavy rain and who is just going to be dodging pop up showers and storms. The current thoughts are areas west of Jackson have a better chances of encountering showers and storms on in the evening. Thursday will be a mostly cloudy day with highs still in the mid to upper 80s. The winds will still come out of the south and Thursday night lows will drop into the low 70s.

Rain showers and storm chances appear to be a little higher on Friday than Thursday due to the approaching and stalled out cold front. Rain chances are 70% and the skies are expected to be mostly cloudy. There will be some afternoon and evening showers and storms on Friday that will be a bit intense. There could be some severe storms with gusty winds being the main threat. Although the tornado and hail threat are lower, both cannot be ruled out at this time. The winds will start to come out of the southwest making for a warm and humid day. Highs will reach the mid 80s on Friday and Friday night lows will fall down again into the low 70s.

THIS WEEKEND:

Unfortunately rain showers and storms are expected to pop up both days this weekend.  Chances are at least 60% on Saturday and 50% on Sunday. That stalled out front will continue to impact our weather leading to pop up showers and storms. There could be some stronger storms or possible severe weather this weekend, especially on Saturday so you need to watch things closely if you have outdoor events planned. Not everyone is going to get this weekend but chances are much higher that you will, than that you won’t. Highs will reach the low 80s this weekend and both days appear to be mostly cloudy. The winds this weekend will come out of the west or southwest all weekend long. Morning lows will hang around 70°. As of now, it is too early to tell which day this weekend will be the best one for outdoor activities, but the early thought is that neither day is looking too great if you want to avoid rain and storms but Sunday is probably going to be quieter than Saturday.
