Jackson set to welcome new mural celebrating cultural heritage, diversity
JACKSON, Tenn. — A new mural is coming to Jackson courtesy of the Jackson International Food and Art Festival.
The mural will be located on 301 East Lafayette Street in downtown Jackson.
The art work will be painted by Rose Newhouse, whose work has reached many hearts around the Hub City. She created some of Jackson’s most iconic murals, such as the Gil Scott-Herron and Sonny Boy Williamson murals.
The new mural will highlight the diverse communities and rich cultures that make up Jackson.
“The mural will be a symbol of the spirit of the festival that we honor the cultural heritage, traditions and story’s of the diverse community that we have here in town,” said Dr. Sandra Dee, co-chair of the Jackson International Food and Art Festival.
The Jackson International Food and Art Festival is scheduled for September 27 at the Jackson Fairgrounds.
