Local organizations join together for ‘Project Playhouse’ fundraiser
JACKSON, Tenn. — An area fundraiser has returned for another year.
Habitat for Humanity of Jackson hosted Project Playhouse Friday morning. The event was held at the West Tennessee Farmer’s Market in downtown Jackson.
At the event, area organizations were tasked with building, decorating and painting playhouses for children in the area.
“We were graced with the opportunity to help with Project Playhouse through Habitat for Humanity and when we have a chance to help with the community we just go for it. So we’ve been doing this for–I’m not sure how many years–but we’ve been doing it for years,” said Raye Coon, helped build playhouse along with TLM Associates team.
Area organizations that helped build playhouses today include TLM Associates, Leader’s Credit Union, Jackson Coca-Cola, BlueOval SK, Owens Corning, The Jackson Clinic, Le Bonheur, Delta Electrical and the Jackson Fire Department.
“So the teams that are here today supporting us, building these little playhouses, the money from their sponsorships helps us build big homes. We actually just closed on two houses, so we’re kind of regrouping before we get going, but our Aging In Place program–where we do critical repairs for senior citizens–that is going strong” said Nicci Gano, event organizer.
It may have been hot and humid, but it didn’t stop these teams from building joy for children around the Hub City. These one-of-a-kind playhouses will create safe and affordable fun for kids in need.
