MEDIA RELEASE FROM MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Blue Angels and the Blue Raiders teamed up to host a Meet and Greet event in preparation for the flight demonstration teams appearance at the great Tennessee Air Show this weekend.

On Friday, dozens from the Rutherford County community were hosted at Middle Tennessee State University to join members of the United States Navy’s Blue Angels team as they get ready for their high-flying performances this weekend.

Held on campus in the Ned McWherter Learning Resource Center, this event was a collaboration between MTSU’s College of Basic and Applied Sciences and the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans Center, all with the purpose of not only promoting the acclaimed Aerospace Program on campus but to also highlight the services offered to veterans and active service members as well.

U.S. Marines Major Josh Horman, pilot of the Blue Angels’ transport plane, and U.S. Navy Petty Officer Mychael Kisling, an aviation electronics technician, offered insight on the Blue Angels’ team, detailing the steps it took for them to become Blue Angels, as well as the steps students should take to become future naval pilots themselves.

Officer Kisling, Murfreesboro native and former MTSU student discussed just how impactful his experience with the team is, “Being a part of the Blue Angels, especially the past two years, has taught me that no matter how many times you fail, there is always going to be somebody there who has your back. They are actually willing to help you learn from the mistakes you’ve made.”
