Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR presents Women’s Veterans Day
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local organization honors women veterans with a special event.
The Jackson-Madison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution hosted its Women Veterans Day.
The event, co-sponsored by James Madison Chapter Sons of the American Revolution took place beginning at 2 this afternoon at the VFW Post 6496 located at 285 Airways Boulevard in Jackson.
During the event nearly 50 women veterans were recognized, each presented with a Certificate of Honor.
The veterans were also treated to door prizes, along with sweet treats including cake and cookies.
The event also included a message from guest speaker Renee Myers, who is the Veteran Service Officer in Carroll County.
“Jackson-Madison Chapter is a 50th Vietnam War Commemoration partner and as such we recognize anyone who is active duty between 1955 and 1975 in any location. We have a female veteran coming today who qualifies and her husband also qualifies,” said Jackie Utley, Service of Veterans Chair, Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR.
The Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR presents this event every year, taking time to recognize those women who sacrifice so much for so many others.
