Leaders in Bolivar meet for city council meeting
BOLIVAR, Tenn. — The City of Bolivar meets for their city council meeting.
According to Mayor Julian Mctizic, the city of Bolivar is in good financial standing.
He says the audit came back for the 2023-24 year and everything is green across the board.
Mayor Mctizic says department heads and staff serve within their means and are conservative with taxpayer money.
For the next fiscal year, the city of Bolivar has a balanced budget with no tax increases.
Mayor Mctizic says there is a 5% cost of living increase for city employees.
“You know we can buy the new trucks and we can buy the new cars, we can invest in those things… but if we don’t invest in human capital, in our employees, we’re wasting our money. So we have a good group that they do right by our taxpayer’s money and I’m proud of the team that we have in the city of Bolivar,” shared Mayor Mctizic.
All items on the agenda were approved unanimously, with one council member absent.
