The Salvation Army Announces Officer Transition in Jackson

As part of The Salvation Army’s unique structure, officers (who are ordained ministers) are periodically reassigned to new communities to bring fresh perspective and leadership to different areas of ministry. These moves typically occur every few years and are guided by the organization’s leadership based on the needs of both the officers and the communities they serve.
“We are deeply grateful to Major Edmonds for his faithful service in Jackson,” said Major Al Newsome, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army in Kentucky & Tennessee. “Their dedication to meeting both the spiritual and practical needs of our neighbors has made a meaningful impact in our community.”
The new officers, Captains William and Larisha Richardson, will officially begin their service in Jackson on Sunday, June 22. The community is invited to a special Welcome Sunday service on June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, located at 125 Allen Ave, to meet and greet the new leadership team.
Captains Will and Larisha Richardson come to Jackson most recently from the Detroit Metro area, where they have served as corps officers in Pontiac for several years.
The Salvation Army remains committed to serving West Tennessee through its local programs, including food and clothing distribution and Angel Tree Christmas gifts for those in need, and looks forward to continued partnership with the community under the new leadership.
