Leaders Education Foundation to hold inaugural fundraiser, honor local educators

JACKSON, Tenn. — A new fundraiser is coming to the Hub City to honor some individuals in the education world, while also providing some entertainment.

The Leaders Education Foundation began in 2019, but has never held its own fundraiser. It has all previously received money through corporate sponsors or members.

Over the years, they have been able to provide scholarships and grants around West Tennessee. This new fundraiser aims to help in that regard.

“It is the Leaders Education Foundation inaugural fundraiser,” said Shea Brown, Director of Community at Leaders Credit Union. “As a part of that, we are honoring five local West Tennessee educators with awards for all of their impact they are making in our community.”

Caroline Yarnrough, Meredith Kee, and Dr. Georg Pingen all are receiving the Inspiring Students award. Dr. Ken Newman is receiving the Impacting Communities award. Finally, Dr. Kristle Hodges Johnson will be getting the Empowering Schools Award.

“So they get chosen by nominations. They get nominated by their peers, their coworkers, or friends and family,” Brown said. “The Foundation had an awards committee made up of board members and other community members to narrow down the nominations.”

The actual event is coming up in just a couple of months. #1 bestselling author and Dave Ramsey personality, Dr. John Deloney, will be the keynote speaker. If you would like to reserve your seat, click here to learn more

“There is all of the information there about tickets as well as sponsorships,” said Brown. “Sponsors and table sales are still available. So if you would like to hear Dr. John Deloney or support these educators that have been announced, you can support them by buying a table, buying tickets, or sponsoring the event.”

Again, this money will go toward more scholarships and grant for local students and classrooms.

The event will be held Thursday, August 14 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in downtown Jackson.
