Toyota Tennessee presents $150k grant for education, conservation projects at Middle Fork Bottoms State Park

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Children will have the chance to learn more about wildlife, ecosystems, and the outdoors at one Tennessee State Park.

It’s all possible because of funding from a local manufacturing company that is committed to help improve local communities.

Toyota Tennessee has provided a $150,000 grant for education and conservation projects at Middle Fork Bottoms State Park in Madison County.

“That $150,000 will allow them to build an outdoor classroom to be able to engage of course young children to participate and learn more about nature and the outdoors,” said Scott Hastings, Toyota Tennessee Plant President.

It’s a partnership between Toyota Tennessee and the National Environmental Education Foundation to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson.

“One of the areas that we focus on is getting kids into parks,” said Alex Wyss, Director of the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy. “You know, the outdoors provide so many benefits to children whether its their physical health, their mental health.”

Among other conservation projects, funds from the grant will also help to replenish pollinators on site.

Toyota Tennessee has invested millions in local nonprofits over the years.

“It’s very exciting,” Hastings said. “For Toyota, obviously we build vehicles, but it’s much more than that. We like to be good stewards to the community.”

In 2023, they specifically gave a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Jackson in honor of their 20th anniversary.

On a national level, Toyota partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
