Strong winds bring down trees, affect vendors with Highway 70 Yard Sale
CEDAR GROVE, Tenn.– Strong storms roll thorough west Tennessee Thursday evening, downing trees and causing damage in one area.
It happened near Cedar Grove on the Madison-Carroll County line.
Strong winds took down numerous trees along Highway 70, blocking traffic.
According to information from law enforcement on the scene, Highway 70 was blocked between Cedar Grove all the way up to Huntingdon.
It’s also along Highway 70 where the Highway 70 Yard Sale is happening through the weekend.
One vendor who was impacted by the strong winds as they blew through reacted to the damage.
“We’ve got people..their tents have all blown up…they’re twisted and torn and we had a snow cone stand and everything’s like blown across the field, it’s just kinda destruction. We’ve never had this kind of trouble out here before,” said Lara Fullington, a vendor with the Highway 70 Yard Sale.
Fullington says the vendors who were affected are busy trying to pick up the pieces after the storm in hopes of being ready for customers again Friday.
