Open house details upgrades coming to Carl Perkins Civic Center

JACKSON, Tenn. — A centerpiece for engagement in downtown Jackson is getting a new look.

The Carl Perkins Civic Center is getting ready for upgrades. Phase one entails the painting of the auditorium, floors and the installation of drape packages.

The remodeling process is expected to make the facility modern, elegant and entertaining for the entire community.

“We’re only going to have two phases,” said Lashune Hicks, facility manager. “The second phase is the real big open house where we will have our new risers on display for the public as well as everybody in West Tennessee to come see.”

The staff express their gratitude for what’s to come and how this will makes a difference.

The proposed finishing date it set for late January 2026.

“Our new risers will seat 921. Our balcony seats 1,000 with just the risers,” Hicks said. “With tables we can set 100 tables, eight chairs per table, which come out to about 800 people. It all depends on the set up and layout that you prefer.”

Friday, the open house showcased the Miss Volunteer America pageant production set up to kick off this weekend for guests to see the potential and creativity they can have with the space.

“To rent out the Civic Center you must come in and fill out a contract,” Hicks said. “It is a cost. It all depends on what area you would like to use. The price can range from $250 to up to $1,600, and that’s just for the building. That does not include security, staffing, and equipment.”

The goal for the center is to be as effective as possible with new upgraded technology to enhance the facility.
