Local fire department hosts dedication ceremony for new vehicles
RIVES, Tenn. — One local community receives a generous grant after a record amount of flooding devastated the area earlier this year.
The Rives Fire Department recently received a grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation.
The department was given a new side-by-side vehicle and a rescue boat. They held a dedication for the two vehicles earlier Monday at the Rives Volunteer Fire Department.
“They let us go pick out what we wanted and spec it the way we wanted, so we got all the equipment we wanted on it, we sent it to them and they didn’t have a problem getting it just like we wanted it. So we are excited to have something that’s nice here,” said Campbell Rice, Rives Fire Department Chief.
Back in February, Rives experienced excessive amounts of flooding that damaged communities leaving many without a home.
The town experienced even more flooding in April following the severe storm outbreak.
