Sandra Lynn Cahill
Sandra Lynn “Sandy” Cahill (Smiley), age 61, passed away on June 16, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee from lung cancer. Born February 19, 1964, in Richmond, Virginia, Sandy brought warmth and joy to those around her throughout her life.
Sandy was the beloved daughter of Judi Claveloux-Roth (Jon Roth) and the late Donald Smiley. Wife to her husband Joey Whitaker. She shared a close bond with her brother Paul Smiley (Beth Gavin) and was preceded in death by her brother Brian Claveloux (Lisa Claveloux) and her dear friend Mark Lundquist. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in being a mother to Roxanna Hanson (Tim Hanson), Danielle Murrin (Chris Murrin), and Nikki Dye. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren, Alyssa Murrin, Lily Hanson, Madalyn Murrin, Lane Murrin, and Cole Murrin, who brought her endless joy along with many other extended family members.
A gifted cook with a generous heart, Sandy found great happiness in preparing meals for family and friends. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked dishes and the laughter of loved ones gathered around the table. She had an unmatched ability to bring people together through food and hospitality.
Sandy’s passion for football was well known—she proudly held the title of the Baltimore Ravens’ number one fan. Whether cheering from home or donning team colors on game day, she brought enthusiasm and spirit to every season. She also cherished time spent at the beach, where she found peace in the sound of waves and the warmth of the sun.
An avid reader and gardener, Sandy enjoyed quiet moments immersed in books or tending to her plants. Her love for animals was evident in her special bond with her dog River, who remained a loyal companion by her side.
Sandy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Patriot Health and Rehabilitation in Paris Tennessee and the Jackson General Memorial hospital in Jackson Tennessee for providing her care and comfort. The family is planning a private service at a later date.
