Its either feast of famine when it comes to rainfall. After intense heavy rain and flooding of Thursday, we are turning the page to intense heat and mostly dry weather for the next several days. It’s time to make sure the AC is in good working order and have plenty of shade ready as heat index numbers will be above 100 for several days in a row. We have the details right here.

First Weekend In Summer:

Summer arrived on Friday along with the start of a little heat wave! It will remain very hot through the entire weekend and right on into next week.

Today:

Saturday brings the first Heat Advisory of 2025. Temperatures will climb as high as the mid-90s in some places with a heat index climbing as high as 107. NWS Memphis issues Heat Advisories for forecast heat index values of 105-109 degrees. The heat advisory will return again on Sunday as well.

Sunday:

Like Saturday, Sunday looks to be another scorcher, with similar but more widespread heat. All of West Tennessee will reach Heat Advisory criteria for Sunday. Temperatures will be even further into the 90s, with the heat index topping out around 107 in some areas.

Next Week:

There is no end to this hot and dry spell at least within the next 7-10 days. Be sure to properly hydrate, use ample sunscreen, limit time outdoors, and prepare to take action to protect your home’s HVAC (and power bill) by raising the thermostat 2-3 degrees.

Heat Safety:

*Remember the outside pets and make sure they have plenty of fresh water and shade. If walking your pet, remember that dark pavement will be as much as 20 to 30 degrees above the actual temperature and can burn their paws! Be sure to check the back seat when leaving the vehicle and take plenty of breaks when out in the heat.

Heat Tips

Rain chances will remain low over the Weekend, however, a couple of isolated storms can be expected in the heat of the day. Most areas will avoid rain for several days. Stay with Storm Team 7 for more updates as we go through this very hot week ahead.
