Long Term Dangerous Heat This Week
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
Sunday marks the third day of the first heat wave of 2025. This morning, our heat advisory was extended. We also have details on the forecast coming up right here.
Heat Advisory:
Our Heat Advisory has been extended through 9:00 PM Tuesday and will not expire overnight like it did Friday and Saturday. There will be very little overnight relief from the heat and daytime heat index values can get up to 106.
Tonight:
The heat will linger well into the nighttime hours as the heat index may stay above 100 as late as 8:00 PM. Heat index values will stay at or above 85 overnight across all of West Tennessee. Even by midnight, it will still feel like the low 90s in some areas of Westernmost counties.
Next 5 Days
Monday and Tuesday will be slightly cooler, not that it will make much of a difference. Heat index values will only be a degree or two lower at best. Temperatures will be in the low 90s, but again, it will feel like 105-107. Wednesday will really crank the heat up as temperatures will climb into the upper 90s. Be on the lookout for a possible Extreme Heat Warning for Wednesday. As of now, the forecast heat index for Wednesday is 109. NWS Memphis upgrades Heat Advisories at 110.
Some tips for you to stay safe in this extreme heat:
- Limit time outdoors.
- Take frequent breaks in shaded areas.
- Hydrate more than you normally would.
- Apply sunscreen often.
- Do not let pets walk on concrete.
