Expert shares how tariffs are expected to make for an expensive summer
JACKSON, Tenn. — While tariffs have drawn significant attention, many consumers are still uncertain about how they will actually be affected.
An analysis from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce examined the expected cost increases of various summertime essentials like baseball gloves and even fishing rods.
The data found suggests summer fun will cost a lot more this year.
We spoke with the chamber’s vice president Neil Bradley who shares why the tariffs are even more profound on America’s small businesses.
“Well the truth is that 97% of all importers–companies that bring something into the United States–are small businesses. 97% of them. In Tennessee, there are about 8,200 businesses that import things. The vast majority of those are small businesses,” said Bradley.
