Tennessee Black Caucus visits West TN during its statewide listening tour

STANTON, Tenn. — One statewide tour makes a stop in a local town to provide information about recent legislation.

Earlier Tuesday evening, the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators (TBCSL) made its way to Stanton for their statewide listening tour.

The purpose of the tour is to inform Tennesseans about current black caucus initiatives and to gather ideas for the upcoming 2026 legislative session.

They discussed how discriminatory legislation passed by the supermajority earlier this year affect all Tennesseans, not just African-Americans.

“What we’re looking for now is solutions. We’re looking for way to combat those pieces of legislation that’s been passed,” said Rep. (D) Johnny Shaw, district 80.

The meeting also focused on the successful legislation that members were able to pass this year.
