TVA asks customers for voluntary reductions in power use
MEDIA ADVISORY FROM THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY (TVA):
With heat advisories continuing until Friday 9 p.m. and heat index values up to 107 degrees expected, TVA is asking electric power consumers to reduce electric use as much as possible during this period.
Consumer steps to reduce power usage:
*Postpone using major electric appliances (dishwashers, clothes washers/dryers, ovens), etc. until late evening and overnight hours when power demand is lower.
*Reduce air conditioning use by setting thermostats to 78 degrees F. or a higher temperature that is comfortable and safe.
*Turn off lights and other electrical equipment when not in use.
Updates and notifications will be provided on social media, website and through local media for the duration of this TVA request.
