Jackson city official shares insight after concerns arise regarding upcoming project

JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents of the Hub City voiced their concerns to city leaders about an upcoming project.

Residents on Country Club Lane, which intersects with Vann Drive, may have new neighbors.

We spoke with Director of Planning, Growth, and Development for Jackson, Stan Pilant, who shares insight on the future plan for this lot.

“People that live in the area, you know, traffic is a big concern to them. There’s also some people that are concerned with some flooding issues that may be in the area. If they’re approved–if they go through the development process–we’ll look at all those things to make sure they mitigate those things,” said Pilant.

Property owners who are within 500ft from the lot were invited to the meeting.

“There was some people that showed up at the planning commission that were made aware it was going to be on the agenda, so that’s why we got some of their comments then,” said Pilant.

Residents were concerned about traffic and weather related problems. This location already has a sign warning drivers of limited sight before the intersection.

Some residents are curious to know if a stop light would be added.

“Whatever the development happens to be–if they’re successful with the commercial development or if they’re unsuccessful in the rezoning and they decide to develop it residentially–we will review all of those things. It’s a part of the development review,” said Pilant.

As of now, it is unclear if the lot will be commercial use. Development plans have not been submitted for the this lot just yet, but developers are considering a commercial project.
