Energy bills up 4.5% from 2024 and expected to keep rising

JACKSON, Tenn. — The air conditioners have been cranking up recently in many households, which can obviously affect energy bills.

Recent research shows that our bills could be climbing even higher over the next few years. This is due to proposed federal budget changes that may go into effect.

Data centers are driving up demand for electricity use and it is expected to soar another 25% by 2030.

Robbie Orvis, the Senior Director of Energy Policy Design at Energy Innovation, says that we cannot limit energy options.

“So we see, by 2030, $120 per year in higher household energy costs,” Orvis said. “That grows to $380 per year by 2035.”

Data shows that energy bills are already up 4.5% over the past year.
