2nd annual Sneaker Ball brings new theme, family-friendly fun to the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Parks and Recreation held their 2nd annual Sneaker Ball, but this time with a fun twist.

“So this is our second annual sneaker ball. Last year we did ‘Dance With Dad’ and just in response to the community response, and to the people that actually came, we decided to kind of rework it–the event–a little bit and call it the ‘Fam Jam,'” said Christiana Gallagher, community relations director for the City of Jackson.

As more people participate in events throughout the city, there will be more for families to enjoy.

“Especially in the summertime, schools not going on. There’s not a whole lot going on otherwise come on out the city loves to provide a venue and a nice activity for the whole family,” said Gallagher.

What makes a Fam Jam? A good time, good music and people who care.

“Families, no matter what their makeup is, to come out and have a good time. Play some games and make memories with each other in a friendly environment. Seeing the turnout this year is just–i’m so excited,” said Gallagher.

Children were given the opportunity to play games such as musical chairs, keep the ball up, corn hole and many more for the chance to take home a prize.

“In addition to a nice environment, how often do kids get to go to an event at the civic center? So, we want to make sure we open that opportunity and have the selfies, photo booth, and step and repeat. We really dressed this event as if it were any other city event,” said Gallagher.

Event organizers say they were very pleased with the turn out of their event.
