Henderson Co. Rescue Squad to retire name, merge with Fire Department

FROM THE HENDERSON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT VIA FACEBOOK (7/1/25):

Important Announcement from Henderson County Fire Department

As of July 1st, the Henderson County Rescue Squad will officially dissolve and transition under the operations of the Henderson County Fire Department. This change marks the end of an era for an organization that has proudly served our county since 1968 with unwavering dedication, hard work, and heart.

While it’s bittersweet to see the Rescue Squad retire its name, we find comfort in knowing that many of its members have long served both the Fire Department and the Rescue Squad. This shared commitment makes the transition smoother and ensures the same high level of service the public has come to expect.

What This Means for Our Community:
With this merger, we are proud to announce that each of our 11 fire districts will now house a dedicated set of rescue tools, eliminating the need for equipment to respond from a single central location. This change will improve response times and get life-saving resources to our residents faster than ever.

Our mission remains the same:
Protecting the lives and property of Henderson County.

Thank you to the members of the Rescue Squad, past and present, for your decades of service. Your legacy will continue through this new chapter.
