Chester Co. Budget Committee deliberates on proposed tax increase
CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — After deliberating and making cuts, one local budget committee comes to an agreement.
Before their meeting began Tuesday night, the Chester County Budget Committee came in with the idea of a 5 cent increase on taxes.
Almost three hours later, the budget committee decided on a 4 cent tax increase for county residents.
In order to come to this proposed tax increase, the budget committee had to make some adjustments.
The Chester County sheriff agreed to cutting out one car. Travel expenses were also cut, along with a penny from debt services.
Along with those budget cuts, several county commissioners offered to give their earnings to help the proposed budget.
On July 21, the budget committee will bring forward their 4 cent tax increase for the county commissioners to vote on.
