Graduation ceremony held for JPD’s Youth Police Academy
JACKSON, Tenn. — Several kids graduate a local police academy after two fulfilling days of learning.
The Jackson Police Department’s Youth Police Academy gave local kids an inside look at operations.
Tuesday, kids got to meet patrol captains, experience an aviation demo, and even hang out with K9 units.
We spoke with Lieutenant Rochell Staten who shares why she believes the academy is important.
“It gives them a chance to see us in a different light instead of what they see on TV. To see that we’re more human and it gives them a chance to see what all we do–the different aspects,” said Lt. Staten, JPD shift commander.
The day ended with a graduation ceremony followed by a reception.
