WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

For the second day in a row showers and storms developed across West Tennessee. We are likely to see more rain showers and isolated pop up storms on Wednesday and Thursday. Severe weather seems highly unlikely at this time over the next 48 hours and rain chances are between 30-40% each day. Highs will reach the upper 80s to near 90s still and it will continue to be a bit humid. THIS WEEK:

Tuesday morning started out nice, but it will be quite humid most of the day. Shower and storm got going early during the late morning hours and will continue until sunset. A few gusty wind storms will be possible and maybe some small hail but overall the severe weather threat seems low with these storms. Highs reached the low 90s on Tuesday and overnight lows will again fall down to the low 70s. The winds will come out of the southwest and overall expect partly cloudy skies. Chances for rain are 40% on Tuesday.

As the cold front sitting to the north gets a little closer and tracks close to West Tennessee, shower and storm chances will go up in the middle of the week. Chances for rain and storms on Wednesday are at 60%. There could be some gusty storms but like Tuesday, severe storms seem unlikely. There will be periods of heavy rain though and plenty of lightning with any of the storms that do pop up.  Highs on Wednesday will make it up to the upper 80s or around 90° depending on how fast the storms develop in the early afternoon hours. The winds will stay out of the southwest and expect a mostly cloudy day. Wednesday night lows will drop into the low 70s.

Thursday the front may drift across West Tennessee. It will not pass through, so cooler weather and a change in the humidity and wind direction seems unlikely. If it does move through, it will be pushed back to the east and north of us later during the day.  Showers are expected with a 50% chance right now to be impacted Thursday afternoon and evening from the front. Highs will reach the upper 80s and the winds will come out of the west most of the day. Thursday night lows will fall down to around 70°.

On the back side of the cold front there will be enough instability with the heat to spark up another round of storms on Friday. Chances are 40% as of now to see a brief heavy rain shower or pop up storm. Expect partly cloudy skies and the winds will come out of the west or southwest later in the day. Highs will reach around 90° and lows will fall into the low 70s to kick off your weekend.

THIS WEEKEND:

As of now we are going to include shower and storm chances for both days this weekend. There is a better chance we are dry on Sunday than Saturday but a lot could change in the weekend forecast as it gets closer. Highs will reach the low 90s with the heat index being near 100% in the afternoon and evening so a shower or two might not be a bad thing. If we get storms this weekend severe weather seems unlikely at this time. Expect partly cloudy skies and the winds will look to come out of the west-southwest all weekend long. Chances for rain on Saturday right now are 30% and 20% on Sunday. If you have weekend plans just keep an eye on the forecast this week and the radar when you will get out and about. Any showers and storms that do develop will produce heavy rain and lightning and possibly some winds gusting up to 40mph.
