Annual gospel event brings faith and music to the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn. — One classic music event returns to bring a joyful noise to the Hub City.

Jackson Sings the Gospel returns with four nights filled with praise–it’s been a tradition for a decade now.

“Ten-time group of the year, Triumphant Quartet, is here on Friday night, along with The Hoppers and a great lineup. Thursday night, Gold City and Karen Peck & New River– they are always Jackson’s fan favorites,” said Bill Bailey, concert promoter.

Wednesday night was the opening night of Jackson Sings the Gospel. Each night, there will be performances beginning at 7 p.m., and on Saturday night, performances will begin at 6 p.m.

“Some of the best, top groups that we have are Triumphant Quartet, The Hoppers, [and] Gold City. We’re really excited about The Inspirations being here, they are the quartet of the year. The Kingdom Heirs from Dollywood are [also] here this weekend,” said Bailey.

The Kingdom Heirs will take the stage Saturday night as the finale. Tickets are available at the Carl Perkins Civic Center box office.

“There’s plenty of tickets available at the box office upon arrival. The daytime matinee concerts are free admissions. We do take up a love offering during the day time, that just goes to take care of the singers that are performing during the day,” said Bailey.

The Thursday and Friday matinee will begin at 1 p.m. This is a good opportunity for those who may not want to drive at night, but still catch a show.

The Saturday matinee, however, will be different from the week day performances.

“Saturday is the National Gospel Music Search at 10 a.m. 20 artists will perform Saturday during the day. 10 soloist and 10 groups, and these are young, aspiring, newer artists trying to get started in gospel music,” said Bailey.

Each of the groups say they are excited to perform in the Hub City for another year.
