Salvation Army to host ‘Stuff the Bus’ at participating Walmart stores
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SALVATION ARMY:
The Salvation Army to host “Stuff the Bus” at participating Walmart stores, to Help Students Start the School Year Strong
Volunteers and community members across Jackson, Bolivar, Humboldt, and Milan donate school supplies for local children in need
Jackson, TN [June 2, 2025] – Back-to-school season should be an exciting time, but for many families across West Tennessee, the rising cost of supplies adds extra stress. That’s why The Salvation Army Jackson Corps is launching its 2025 “Stuff the Bus” campaign, with events taking place at Walmart stores in Jackson, Bolivar, Humboldt, Huntington, Lexington, and Milan.

On select Saturdays from July 19 to July 26, shoppers can grab a few extra school supplies and drop them in Salvation Army collection bins at participating Walmart locations. Every donation helps a child in their local community return to class with confidence.

“As the cost of living continues to rise, many parents are finding it harder than ever to afford the basic supplies their children need for school,” said Clint Beilke, Development Manager for The Salvation Army Jackson Corps. “Thanks to the generosity of Walmart shoppers and the support of our school district partners, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to start strong.”
All school supplies collected in each community will stay local — directly benefiting students through partnerships with school districts and community organizations.
For more than 30 years, Walmart and The Salvation Army have worked together to meet urgent needs across the country. Today, thanks to retailers s like Walmart, The Salvation Army serves more than 27 million Americans annually through programs that address poverty, hunger, homelessness, and other critical challenges.
How to Support the “Stuff the Bus” Campaign:
- Visit a participating Walmart location on July 19 or 26
- Purchase school supplies from the requested list or your choice
- Drop donations in the Salvation Army collection bins at the front of the store
Together, we can give every student in Jackson-Madison a strong start to the new school year.
