‘Save A Sister’ celebrates its founder

HUMBOLDT, Tenn.—A day of celebration recognizes one organization’s founder while also providing support to those in need.

The Save A Sister (S.A.S) organization hosted a unique event Saturday.

The celebration recognized the founder Mary Sample’s 61st birthday and all the incredible gifts Save A Sister has provided to the local community and beyond.

The event took place at Famous Soul Food restaurant in Humboldt beginning at 9 in the morning and continuing until noon.

There was delicious food, fellowship and worship, live music, and several guest speakers as members recounted the many blessings the organization has been a part of over the years.

“We feed the homeless. We shelter the homeless. We check on them to make sure they have supplies. People can always Cash App and the money goes in our treasury where we feed here, when we have our meetings. Someone may call saying Mary ‘I’m out of tissue or I’m out of soap,’ we have the funds there. We do not give them money, but we do buy everything they need,” said Mary Sample, Founder of Sassy Sisters/Save a Sister (S.A.S).

The event also raised money for its charitable needs. The Save A Sister organization seeks to provide shelter, food and lend support to the homeless, while also supporting those who struggle with mental health issues.
