THIS WEEK:

After a few rounds of pop up showers and storms over the weekend, some lingered into the day on Monday. More showers and storms are expected this evening and will slowly clear out later tonight before returning on Tuesday afternoon. Highs on Monday made it up to around 90° and that will be the coolest day of the week. Highs will make it up to the low to mid 90s on Tuesday and even hotter weather is expected in the middle of the week.

The combination of the heat and humidity will make it feel between 100-105° each afternoon for the rest of the week. Tuesday night lows will fall down to the low 70s but mid 70s are expected for the rest of the nights leading up into the weekend. The winds will come out of the south or southwest all week long.

Rain chances will continue on Tuesday as a stalled out front is sitting just to the north of us. That front will slowly track to the east on Tuesday but will be close enough to help spark a round of showers and storms in the afternoon. Severe weather seems unlikely but some heavy rain and lightning can be expected with some of the pop ups that go up during the middle of the day. Chances for rain are 40% across our area but will be falling down to 30% for Wednesday and Thursday.

The middle of the week is going to be hot with highs reaching the mid 90s for both Wednesday and Thursday. The dew point will be high in the mid 70s making it feel over 100° most of the afternoon and evening hours. We should be just short of seeing a heat advisory issued which requires a heat index over 105° for a few hours. Expect partly cloudy skies still in the middle of the week with rain chances going away each night. Keep those AC units pumping as overnight lows will only drop down to the mid 70s during the middle of the week.

Some pop up showers and storms will continue on Friday with chances going back up t0 40% as another weak stalled out front should sit just to the north of us. The front will not make it and southwest winds will keep the heat up on Friday and we should remain hot into the weekend.

THIS WEEKEND:

The weather this weekend will be very similar to the weather we are going to have all week. That means highs will stay in the low to mid 90s with a heat index in the low 100s. Pop up showers and storm chances are also expected both days this weekend. Like last weekend though, do not cancel your outdoor plans, just be weather aware and make sure you find shelter if a storm is heading to your area. The storms this weekend are unlikely to be severe but they could produce some brief heavy rain as well as some lightning. Morning lows will fall to the low to mid 70s. We could be put under a level 1 (marginal risk) for severe storms this weekend but an upgrade to a level 2 seems unlikely for not only the rest of the week, but for the weekend as well.
