Haywood Tomcats Football Preview
The Haywood Tomcats are fresh off a season where
they had one of the most explosive offenses in all of high school football.
They were 3-1 in the district and 8-4 on the regular season. They earned their spot in
the playoffs making it to the second round. But, saw it all come to an end to a tough Melrose
team losing with a final of 33 to 25. However before
that the Tomcats was so dominant in all three phases
of the game.We spoke about how great the offense was,
the defense was known to take the ball away and forcing
you in so many 3rd and long spots, and special teams was fundamentally
sound which came into play for a lot of wins. But there’s one thing
missing that Tomcat country wants to add to their trophy case.
We spoke with head coach Josh Puckett and he talked about consistency
and that his guys suit up in the purple and white for one thing and one thing only.

“We just gotta be consistent everyday right we do one play and it looks great and then we come back a few plays later and do the same play and we mess it up and that’s frustrating whether it be offensively or defensively consistency is what we gotta get better at. Our goal never changes here at Haywood right we got extremely high expectations every year were playing for a state championship and it doesnt change ever so you have to embrace that you have to know
that you have a target on your back a little bit and guys know when they play Haywood its a big game and they kinda bring their A game for you.”

They kick the season off hosting Henry county on Thursday
