Heavy police presence spotted near Jackson home

UPDATE: JPD, MCSO searches for suspects in 2 separate incidents

JACKSON, Tenn. –Jackson police and SWAT members responded to an area at the corner of North Cumberland Street and Hale Street after officials were alerted to shots fired in the 400 block of Preston Street.

Our crew arrived on scene around 2:45 p.m., where several Jackson Police vehicles were observed near a house on North Cumberland Street. A portion of North Cumberland was closed by police while the scene was active.

Police set up a command post at a church near the intersection of Cumberland and Hale Street while they searched for a person of interest after Shot Spotter technology alerted to shots fired on Preston.

Preliminary investigation determined the individual believe to be responsible was located near a house on Cumberland Street. SWAT members searched the home and property and did not locate the individual.

Jackson police cleared the scene and have not provided a name or description of the person of interest.

JPD said this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
