SWHRA announces new commodity distribution dates

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Southwest Human Resource Agency has announced changes to the July, August and September commodity distribution dates.

The Commodity Program is responsible for receiving, storing and distributing USDA Tennessee Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) available foods to low-income families in Southwest Tennessee. This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee.

According to SWHRA, to qualify, the income level must fall under 185% of the poverty scale. A household may also qualify based upon their participation in any of the following programs:

  • TANF
  • SSI
  • Food Stamps
  • TennCare
  • Public housing
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

This is a drive-thru service, so recipients are asked to remain in their vehicle to be served. Commodities will be placed in your trunk, bed of a truck, or back seat.
