What’s New Wednesday: Lori’s Creative Gatherings
JACKSON, Tenn. — Lori’s Creative Gatherings opened in February of this year.
Owner Lori Snelling, who recently moved here from California, tells us she’s a retired teacher who has always answered the call to teach others.
With a passion for the arts, Snelling opened her studio to provide a fun space inspired by traditional paint-and-sip style businesses.
“There are a lot of paint-and-sip-type businesses around, and I wanted to set myself apart, so I also do painting, but mostly I do crafting,” Snelling said. “[There are] a lot of people who are afraid to paint the picture, but they want to do something artistic, so we do a lot of crafting.”
Snelling says she offers classes on everything from resin work, yarn, paint pouring, beading, hand knitting, and much more.
The classes are step-by-step and aimed at beginners, with participants able to take their art home at the end of the class. Snelling says she’s also launching in-depth courses, and information on upcoming events can be found on their Facebook page.
“And there’s a calendar, I put out a monthly calendar that has the classes listed, so you just go on there, you can click the link, buy a ticket in advance, and come to the class,” Snelling said.
Snelling says crafting kits can also be purchased to take home or to give as a gift.
Additionally, the business offers even more ways to get creative, such as DIY walk-ins on Saturdays and Sundays, kids’ camps during the summer, and their splatter room, where you can suit up to sling paint and flex your artistic skills.
They also host birthday parties, with a variety of popular themes to choose from.
“I enjoy when somebody makes something and they’re proud of it, and they take it home and they put it on their wall or they put it on their table instead of in the closet or the garbage can,” Snelling said.
Lori’s Creative Gatherings is located at 566 Carriage House Drive in Jackson.
