Leaders talk community programs with Hub City residents

JACKSON, Tenn. — City leaders invite community members of one Hub City district out for a town hall.

The town hall held at Love and Truth Church gave residents who live in Jackson’s district 3 an opportunity to hear about two community programs.

The Love Your Block program, which offers free lawn care, exterior home repairs, and a mobile tool shed to support neighborhood pride, and the Greater Jackson Financial Empowerment Center, which provides free one-on-one financial counseling to anyone 18 or older.

“I used to be a financial counselor before this role and I actually served anyone from homeless to families making over $100,000 annually and also 18-year-olds to folks that are retiring and trying to figure out how to survive off of a social security check,” said Tyler Carr, Office of Financial Empowerment director.

Community leaders say their goal is to work together with residents to build stronger, more empowered communities.
