Longtime Madison County Judge kicks off retirement with farewell party

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — One local judge enjoys one final goodbye before celebrating a milestone.

Former Madison County General Session Judge, Hugh Harvey Jr., was surrounded by friends and family Thursday afternoon to kick off his retirement.

Since 1998, Judge Harvey has worked in the Madison County courts, working with those that enter his courtroom.

This afternoon he reflected on what brought him into the law world and how he will enjoy this new chapter of his life. During this celebration he was presented with items to help with his grilling, a portrait to display at home, and another portrait to be displayed in his former courtroom.

“It was nice to see some people I hadn’t seen in a while. We didn’t get a chance to talk about a bunch of war stories cause all of us can do that all afternoon,” Judge Harvey said.

His wife says she is excited to spend time with harvey and their grandchildren.
