Westview Football Team Preview

We preview the Westview Chargers football team.The Chargers are coming off
one of their best seasons in school history. They won 14 games in last years campaign and
7-0 in district play. This Westview team went the
distance with at the time freshman quarterback Graham Simpson who was named max preps
national freshman of the year and Mr football runner up. Making it all the way to the state championship game but failing short in their quest to become state champions.

But dont get it twisted this team was must see TV every single week. They had matchups
where they scored 54 points, 56 points,59 points, and even had a game they
scored 70 points and that was the first game of the season. The defense
loses one player on the defensive line but their defensive coordinator has been
there four years and has a system that allows them constantly to take the ball away.
We caught up with head coach Matt McConnell and he talked about their only looking
forward to 2025 and how the attitude has been for the team.

“Its kinda like i tell the kids two thousand twenty four team football team gone and this is two thousand twenty five and we haven’t won a game yet and were just taking it one day at a time you know were trying to live in the moment of the day and get better each day kids have done a good job this summer of doing that so we’re not trying to look forward were just trying to look to the next day and make sure were getting better
each day. Very positive excitement kids are excited. I’ve had a number of kids they been asking me since we got back from dead period when we put pads on? Their ready to go their ready to
get out here their ready to get the season going so we are too were excited about what two thousand twenty five holds
for us and excited for our kids to get an opportunity their ready to get out and compete against somebody beside themselves and were ready to go out and see them do it.

They kick the season off hosting Memphis academy of
science and engineering on Friday August 22nd at 7:00 pm.
