Bowls for the Hungry event returns to Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn.—One charity event serves up good food, fun and funds to feed those in need.
The Bowls for the Hungry charity event took place Saturday evening at the fairgrounds in Jackson.
The event was presented by the City of Jackson Parks and Rec Department partnered with TN Homeless Solutions, the Salvation Army, Dream Center, RIFA, ARM, and The Place.
The event kicked off at 5 in the evening and continued until 8pm. There was live music along with a delicious dinner and a live auction.
Bowls for the Hungry is a unique event where local artists and students design ceramic bowls which are then auctioned off to the highest bidder.
“We have 135 bowls in this year auction. Each one is unique to the artist that created it. None of them are the same and they’re absolutely stunning. We get local artist from our community, the students at the Bemis ceramics studio, all of the non-profits, as well as Miss Volunteer America,” said Allyssa Miller, Ceramics Instructor for the City of Jackson.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to a local non-profit organization dedicated to feeding the hungry.
