Screen time and eye strain: Regular exams critical for students
JACKSON, Tenn. — Did you know that increased screen time is wreaking havoc on our eyes?
That’s according to optometrist Dr. Janelle Davison.
Students are especially feeling the effects of digital eye strain with the increased use of electronic devices.
It is essential that parents schedule an annual eye exam for their child during the back-to-school season to check for any vision corrections or renewal of their prescription for glasses and contact lenses.
“We know that vision can impact your child’s ability to perform in a classroom,” said Dr. Davison. “And that any questions that you may have about the development of your child’s eyes, this is going to give you the opportunity to ask those questions to the eye care provider during that exam.”
Davison encourages not only students, but everyone who utilizes digital devices, to schedule their annual eye exam.
