Hub City Central expected to be completed in time for football season
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Hub City Central project is underway and near completion.
According to Superintendent Marlon King, the project is funded through ESSER Dollars, which were received during the pandemic, rainy day funds and funds from the county commission.
JMCSS Board Member Glen Gaugh tells us the football field is up to collegiate standards for athletics.
“We’re very pleased with the progress of the Hub City Central stadium. Looking forward to having football season there for Jackson Central-Merry–their new home field. The weather, as everyone knows, has been wet and a little iffy, but we’re on track to the best of my knowledge with the project to be open in time for the football season,” said Gaugh.
The Hub City Central project has been in the works for over 30 years. The project includes a football stadium with a track and the Oman Arena will house the future site of the Jackson Madison County School System’s central offices and administration.
The vision is to have a complex that serves as a hub for the school district.
“With the stadium nearing completion, we’re getting started with the central administration building then Oman Arena will come along behind that. There’s a lot that we can do internally with our own maintenance folks to put some nice touches on the building. Some of the more in-depth work will come along at a point a little later down the line,” said Gaugh.
The stadium and track will have a press box, full concessions and seat more than 2,400 fans.
“Our contractors, Lashlee Rich and everyone that’s worked on that project, have went above and beyond to make it a beautiful place to get it open in time to use this year,” said Gaugh.
The complex will provide indoor athletics, teacher in-service trainings, and the plan to host graduations inside Oman Arena starting in 2026.
