1 dead after fire in Milan, investigation underway
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MILAN FIRE DEPARTMENT:
MILAN, Tenn. — On Tuesday July 23, 2025 at approximately 2:53 AM, the Milan Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 3088 Ragsdale St.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire showing from an attached garage at the rear of the home.

Firefighters were advised that there were no people or pets inside the home and that smoke detectors had alerted the residents. Firefighters contained the fire to the rear portion of the structure using handlines. Mutual aid assistance was received from the Gibson County Fire Department.
During fire extinguishment, one of the occupants was found deceased in the home. Apparently, they had re-entered the home without the knowledge of family members or the firefighters on the scene. TBI is investigating the cause of the fire and the Medical Examiner is also investigating.
The damage estimates were not available at the time of the press release. Due to the damage to the home, the residents were displaced and Red Cross assistance was provided for five adults.
The Milan Fire Department would like to remind everyone to stay out if you get out and working smoke alarms save lives. No object is worth risking your life. Have a plan and a meeting place predetermined if a fire or other emergency happens in your home.
