Delta Faucet takes 10 lucky teachers on supply shopping spree
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local teachers were treated to a shopping spree to get geared up for the upcoming school year.
The back-to-school season is upon us. It’s a time where teachers decorate their classrooms to inspire the next generation and get their supplies ready to have a great school year.
This year, Delta Faucet is helping 10 lucky teachers stock up on their classrooms needs.
“We like to partner with education because, of course, we know that children are our future, and then, with the teachers, they’re a special group of people that helps mold their futures,” said Matrisha Holloway, People Operations Partner with Delta Faucet. “So, we thought what better way to pour back into the community than to lift up our teachers.”
Each teacher received a $500 shopping stipend to be used at Target.
While some shopped for basic necessities such as pencils and paper, others grabbed fun décor.
“I’m really excited to get supplies for just the simple things in the classroom, not a lot of people think about like paper towels and tissue, like even though I teach big kids like, they go through a lot of that more than anyone expects,” said Maya Thornton, 12th Grade educator at Haywood High School.
This year, Delta improved the program by allowing their employees to nominate educators. And two lucky winners were nominated by their parents.
“I thought, well, my daughter is a teacher and I wanted to nominate her,” said Art Wheeler, Quality Engineer at Delta Faucet.
“I was surprised,” said May Stutts, 7th Grade educator at Northeast Middle School. “I wasn’t really expecting anything, so it was a very pleasant surprise.”
Educators are used to coming out of pocket each year to make sure their students have everything they need.
“All of the teachers in this room care so much about their children or their students, and just giving us more resources to help support them and to help them grow, really makes me excited,” Stutts said.
This is the 2nd year Delta Faucet has hosted this event.
Delta Faucet hopes to continue to provide relief for educators for years to come.
