JACKSON, Tenn. — Young ladies from across the Volunteer State made their way to the Hub City to see who will be crowned the next Miss Tennessee Volunteer.

35 contestants will take stage at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, for the chance to take home $10,000 in scholarships, the crown and so much more.

“Every one of them, each night has a category. We have lifestyle and fitness, we have talent and then we have evening wear,” Emily Anne Sparks, Co-executive director for Miss Tennessee Volunteer, shares.
Contestants will be divided in three categories each night during the preliminary rounds.
Although the prize is the crown and the large scholarship every girl is a winner.
“But the beauty is every girl that walks across the stage at least earns some type of scholarship and that’s what we pride ourselves in,” Sparks adds.
Miss Tennessee Volunteer pageant makes sure that each contestant has an initiative that highlights their mission known as S.E.R.V.E.
This initiative can highlight organizations, a demographic of people, or a community.
“This not something that they do for this year, it’s something that they’ve done for their lifetime. They go out they raise money, they raise awareness for organizations. Some of these girls have created their own nonprofit organizations to raise awareness,” says Sparks.

Recent winner for the title Miss Teen Tennessee Volunteer shares her excitement for the next Miss Tennessee Volunteer.
“We’ve been sitting in rehearsals and we’ve been getting so excited because it’s just so exciting to imagine our next Miss Tennessee Volunteer and our sister queen is going to be competing on that stage tonight. So it’s so wonderful and we’re so excited for them,” Alexa McArthur, current Miss Teen Tennessee Volunteer, shares.
The recent winner for Miss Iris Tennessee Teen also gives this advice for each contestant.
“I would definitely say praying and going in there with confidence and a piece of mind that you already did the hardest part, you’ve already talked to the judges. Now you have to go out there and leave it out there on the stage, show them who they met in the interview room and bring it on,” said Lucy Cowart, current title holder Miss Iris Tennessee Teen.
Thursday night’s theme will be ‘Throwback Thursday,” Friday night will be ‘Party in the USA’, and the final night, Saturday, will be Disney themed.
