Children’s Programs at JMC Library August 2025
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Library has several ongoing programs for kids this month.
Story Time: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday at 10:30 am. Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are welcome to join us once a week for stories, songs, & friendship. Must have an adult participating.
World Lion Day August 4, 5, and 7; National Mountain Day August 11, 12, and 14; World Water Week August 18, 19, and 21; National Beach Day August 25, 26, and 28
Saturday Story Time: 10:30 am; All ages of children welcome! Celebrate Nat’l Book Lovers Day August 9; Celebrate Back to School Month August 23
Family American Sign Language Class Mondays from 11:30-12. August 4, 11, 18 & 25; September 8, 15, 22 & 29. This 8-week class is designed for homeschooled children ages 5-12 and their grown-ups to learn together. Must have both an adult and child in attendance.
All Ages Afternoon Art Friday at 3:30 pm. August 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29. Join us every Friday for art of all kinds! Let your creativity run wild and try new things!
Coding Club Every Thursday at 3:30 pm. May 8 & 22. Come hang out with fellow programmers and practice your coding! Ages 9+
Open Space Hours – Tuesdays, 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm; Saturdays, 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. In the MakerSpace, come use our supplies to work on your passions or try something new!
Pokémon Trading Card Club August 30 from 11:00-12:00. Last Saturday of every month. Bring your cards to trade and hang out with other fans.

Teen Programs at JMC Library August 2025
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Library has several ongoing programs for teens and tweens this month.
Teen Space Hours Ages 13 – 18. Monday – Wednesday 2:30-7; Thursday 2:30 – 6; Fridays 2:30-4; Saturdays 11-4.
Turning 13 in August? Every First Saturday at 12:00 pm. August 2nd. Celebrate in the Teen Area with cake and ice cream! Please RSVP if you want your name on the cake at JMCLTeenArea@gmail.com
Teen Advisory Board Every 1st Wednesday 4-5 pm. August 6th. Come and earn service hours by contributing your ideas and opinions about Teen programming.
Teen Cooking August 9, 12 – 2. Program Room. We are learning to make microwave granola.

Tween & Teen Brown Bag Homeschool Hangout Wednesdays 12:30- 2:30 pm. August 6, 13, 20, 27. Every Wednesday afternoon ages 11 to 19 are welcome to come and hang out in the teen area. Kids can play games, work puzzles, do crafts, or just sit and socialize! Bring a cold lunch!
Dungeons & Dragons Nights are every first and third Thursday at 5:00 pm. August 7, 21. Join others in adventures of heroism in this tabletop game for teens and adults alike! New or experienced players welcomed!
Werewolf Game Day Ages 11-19. August 18th 4:00-7:00 pm.
Tween and Teen Sewing Every Fourth Saturday August 23rd 2:00-4:00 pm. Ages 11-19 Learn to make a Pillowcase! Or work on your own project. Children under 13 need an adult helper if they want to use the sewing machines.

American Sign Language Class, Levels 1 & 2 Tuesdays at 11 am. August 5, 12, 19 & 26; September 2, 9, 16 & 23. Ever wanted to learn ASL? We have an 8-week class for new or experienced signers! Come learn with our certified interpreter and Deaf instructor! Ages 13+.

Jackson Writers Guild Every second and fourth Thurs. at 5:30 pm. August 14 & 28. Join other authors to discuss writing and share you work. This month, learn about finding your audience!
Starbooks Book Club Last Tuesday Monthly at 6:00 pm. August 26 at Starbucks, 2034 N. Highland. Join us at Starbucks by the mall for our book club to talk about At the End of the River Styx by Michelle Kulwicki.

Tai Chi is every Tuesday at 10:00 am. Tai chi is a Chinese tradition that is now practiced as a graceful form of exercise.
Stitching Hour is every Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Join others for a cozy session of knitting, crocheting, embroidering, tatting, or any other textile skill. Beginners welcome!
Line Dance every Monday at 6:00 pm and Friday at 11:30 am. Come in and get a great hour of exercise at our line dance classes!
Midwest TN Genealogical Society Second Tuesday at 5:30 pm. August 12th. Presentations and help related to genealogy and local history.
